Re: Tracking Magnetic North: The Pesky Wildcard of the Eddy Minimum

Of course it would seem that southerly going polar vortex lobes seem to be biased to position themselves over land rather than the oceans. During the LIA I think that NOAA have it that the N Atlantic was warm and the Northern Pacific too hence Alaska was quite benign as a result... This land effect ...

Re: Tracking Magnetic North: The Pesky Wildcard of the Eddy Minimum

Forgot to mention the N mag pole was about 60-70 dgrees North over Canada during the LIA.... It is now 90N from London and heading East.

Hope the polar vortex goes that way too.

Re: Tracking Magnetic North: The Pesky Wildcard of the Eddy Minimum

Just an odd thought based on lack of knowledge BUT... The Good ole BBC has reported two days of record high temperatures in February in the UK followed by: Global Warming, Global Warming, Global Warming propaganda of the usual kind. They of course omit to mention 100s of all time record lows in the ...

Re: How does your garden grow?

Mine doesn't, very much to my irritation.... however I just had a phone call from a mate in Oz. He is an "unintentional prepper" who decided to retire early a dozen years ago to the tablelands in North Queensland. He got a few acres of land next to a river and built a house there which seems to be o...

Re: Heating in a Polar Vortex

OK... I have not tested this idea myself.... but thinking about it.... I may well do so for next year. We are somewhat spoiled in the UK with a very solid electricity grid and 80% of houses on piped natural gas. Electrically we link into Europe and find mutual benefit in buffering each others supply...

Re: Heating in a Polar Vortex

Natty Bumppo... Not sure if this reply is linked to you.... I have not sussed the system yet. The bricks idea is strictly for an emergency prep which is good for the collective (your neighbors) as well as good for you. It is not a long term plan for the GSM, would it were that simple... OK I am from...

Von Braun

Down at The Becket (pub) Zareh and I were discussing the Apollo Missions and the Von Braun equation(s) came up. I said I had studied the equation(s) and it was really quite straightforward and simple to understand (having a mild swank, but that is so true anyway). "Of course", said Zareh, "It's not ...

Re: UK Self defence

My prepping so far has been limited to prepping for the global financial reset, formally known as the global financial collapse until it became evident that the world's central bankers knew it was coming and intended to reset the system with them still in charge. I was initially concerned with maint...

Heating in a Polar Vortex

I guess that many in the USA have thought of this. If not for next time: Take energy from the grid before the cold gets worse and grid down is threatend. How? Remove all shelves from the oven(s), put in a layer of bricks, turn on the oven, and periodically put in a new layer of bricks until the oven...

Re: UK Self defence

The big problem for serious self defence in the UK is that hand guns are illegal and you need to show good reason for owning rifles and shot guns. However, should the food supply systems go down we can expect a break down in normality. The first kind of people on the streets trying to raid your plac...
