Complex jointing

I took a look at the diagrams, right after I looked up what a pastured broiler enclosure was.... :D Without more specific information about material types and dimensions of the building materials, I would have to assume the difficulty in joining at the ridge beam involves the shallow angle of attach...

Results of 24 hour light

I just took some 14 day photos of my garden.... I am not a photographer by any means and I haven't figured out why the image host keeps turning and inverting the images but they still show what they need to show... These were planted from seed 14 days ago and have been under 24 hour light without a ...

Re: 2019 RED Alerts!

My brother just heard from a friend in Ontario that the air temperature is currently -51 degrees Celsius at his home. He has his gas fireplace cranked and the floors are still cold. No word on the wind chill factor but at that temperature, just skip it... We are only at -27 degrees Celsius here in P...

Re: What did you do to prepare today?

I came to the forum and learned some things from some really smart people! I also ordered some more copper plates for another generator and a case of 50 LED garden lamps in 12 - 14 volt DC format. I will be giving a set of e27 socket LED garden lamps (85 - 265 VAC) to my brother to get him started o...

Re: Batteries

Thanks for posting the chart, that will come in handy later... I have looked at the pure gel batteries in the past as a alternative to lead / acid for my car but didn't look into them for off-grid situations before. I like the temperature stability of the pure gel batteries and as you have pointed o...

Re: Batteries

The most reliable batteries are likely to be lithium polymer type... I looked up a listing just now to give an idea of what these are like and the prices... They are quite expensive but as long as they are kept charged up, there is no reason they can't last 30 to 40 years.... https://www.ebay.ca/itm...

Re: Soliciting Contributions

I saw this list and thought I might share what I have thought to arrange for myself in the hopes that we can spark a really good discussion about different ideas and ways for people in different situations to cope with the new normal.... Home made soap – almost any seed oil will act as a displacemen...

Re: 2019 RED Alerts!

I totally agree with you... there won't be much "law" enforcement when everyone is scrambling. With over 300 million people in the US and Canada being affected by these "arctic anomalies", I strongly doubt the actual numbers reported are accurate. Only one small city in B.C. reported 6 deaths from a...

I planted seeds 7 days ago...

I went high tech with my garden and after planting seeds, this is what I had in 7 days. I am of course, making a careful study of the plants behaviour in 24 hour / day light and hope to adapt / breed various strains that thrive under these conditions. I am at day 11 now with the broccoli and radish ...
