Re: ARE YOU PLANTING YOUR SPRING GARDEN?

Today I took advantage of a break in the rain to harvest raspberries and plant the rest of my Bertie's Best greasy bean seeds in the new garden out back. I made raspberry pancakes, then froze the rest of the harvest. Yesterday was more of an interesting networking day than anything else. I garden fo...

Re: ARE YOU PLANTING YOUR SPRING GARDEN?

May weather was hot and dry but June is coming in cool and wet. We're supposed to get rain every day for a week and my gardens need it badly. I've spent the last few days putting in a new garden out back. Right now it has comfrey, stinging nettles, amaranth, and tomatoes. I'll squeeze in more later ...

Re: What did you do to prepare today?

@Andy F, smart idea about the phone book. I like it. @Kink, keep working man. Do the buses there have bike racks on front? I sure hope so for your sake. @ADKFarmer, I haven't tried growing squashes in a greenhouse but this would be my strategy: trellis them and mulch the bed heavily, then run fans. ...

I'm growing Reapers this year too. It's my first time around them this year. I'm just hoping I don't melt my eyes cutting into them  I'm injured. I halfway suspect that I hairline fractured my ulna. At any rate, my forearm is swollen proximal to my wrist and I don't have the mobility or strengt...

Dig your work man! I hated it that I couldn't meet up with you and Anomalous before he took off (I'm that other fella in NC).

Re: ARE YOU PLANTING YOUR SPRING GARDEN?

Wow Farside, you really do have a short growing season. I harvested peas today. I guess your season runs about 3 1/2 mos behind mine. I hope it doesn't end 3 1/2 mos before mine! Actually, I have year-round production in some capacity or other, so seasons tend to bleed into one another. I'm done sel...

For interior applications, why not mix shungite with natural clay-based paints? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag_QCHuoQgk
