I believe it would be a good idea if members of this forum wrote up 'manuals' on how to build/make some of the things in the above lists and also add to the above list.
We can go online and find this information but some designs out now are not specific for GSM conditions.
Also if we do get a grid down situation the internet will not be available.
Members could print out the manuals that are relevant to them (or print out all of them for future reference)
A file of DIY manuals and Hacks stored away could be a life saver when we need the info the most.

For example I am working on an instant hot water rocket burner so that I can fill a bath with hot water using sticks as fuel.
When I am finished (I plan to build the final version over the winter) I will write it up, step by step, how to make it, in a printable PDF format and upload it to the Ice age farmer wiki site.
Then all of you can at least print it out so that if the SHTF your community has simple instructions on how to build them. Materials, dimensions, methods etc.
I plan to tick off a few on the list above.

If we do this we actually have to make these things and not just copy from the internet, so we actually know what we are taking about and have tested them out.
Where possible it would be good to build these things using everyday available materials/components.
Car alternators and batteries, Gas tanks, cans etc, rather than complicated specialist components that would be hard to find when the grid is down.
Maybe some of you have already made some useful DIY alternatives or just useful hacks that you can share?

Could be simple projects like making soap, tooth past, a tooth brush or washing powder and testing them
If we don't have the internet and the shops are empty this info will be invaluable.

Also even if we don't want to actually build any of these things now we could print and read these PDFs so that we can add the hard to find materials/components to our prepping lists.

All of my blog posts are printable, and I make them ;) I agree...also, if people have questions they know where to go and who to ask if it is first person info.

I have an Aquaponics system that is up and running using Mirror Carp. The problem will be getting through the UK winter (first winter)
The setup is in a huge Poly Tunnel but the fish are outside in a separate shed because the Poly was way too hot this summer.
Will insulate the shed soon and see how we go through the winter, will be a good test.

Aiming to build a sunken geothermal greenhouse next year and set up a new aquaponics system there.
Like the one the Nebraska gentleman built

Also making some potash soap, will write it up when it actually works. looks like a mess right now.

Just want to recommend the book "Cold Times Preparing For The Mini Ice Age" by Anita Bailey, Phd. This book covers everything needed for whats coming. Apologies if someone else posted this and I missed it. Thanks to Diamond at Oppenheimer Ranch for the information about the book.

Easy DIY Toothpaste

This is what my grandparents always used

2 T baking soda
5 - 10 drops of Peppermint oil, or Anise oil (but you can add whatever essential oils you like or need)

Put it in a container with an airtight lid, shake it well, then to use it you just wet your brush, dip it in the powder and brush well.
