For some reason, rye flour has disappeared from all the supermarket shelves. I used to make rye bread, and thought I make some again over the holidays. I went to the store to pick up some dark rye flour and there was none on the shelves so I went to every supermarket, walmart, and even the catering supply store and nobody has any type of rye flour whatsoever. I thought it might just have been temporary, but I've been looking every other day for a month and there isn't even an empty space on the shelf anymore.
Where the rye flour used to be is taken up by bags of plain wheat flour, so the shelf looks full, but there is just less variety. I think I'll call the agricultural store and see if they have rye seed. I suspect they don't.
