Cody Friesen, a materials scientist and associate professor at Arizona State University, spent nearly seven years developing the Source Hydropanel. Using solar power, a single system can produce enough drinking water for two to three people each day--even in desert conditions.

30 Liter Water Reservoir
SOURCE panels make water that flows into a 30 liter reservoir where it is mineralized for optimal taste, storing up to 120 standard bottles per 2-panel array.

Cost per unit - $2000

TWO THOUSAND?! What a scam!

One can make the same thing with clear plastic, a black waterproof box with some strategically drilled holes and some tubing from local hardware store for under thirty bucks.

two thousand dollars...that is totally predatory for what is being sold. Shame on that company.

First it was the "Truther Movement" that fell into cannibalism, now the GSM crowd is being preyed upon, also.

There is about $700.00 cost in Solar Panels right off the bat. I can see the overall cost is reasonable plus profit for the design & mfg'r as well as the logistics of shipping costs. It is very large, and very heavy. It would be hard for it to walk away without a lot of help. For people living in the desert a system like this would be nearly mandatory in a grid down situation. In AZ, the SRP water company requires power to run it; no power, no water coming out of faucet.

I still like using Dehumidifier (the Dessicant one, not the one with AL tubing) and Berkey Filter System.
I don't run it all the time on 110AC house power. I have run it on Solar using inverter in the past, just for a test run. For long term, I don't know if my Solar system would run it 24/7. I'm not there yet.

Anyone here living in desert regions (especially coastal ones) should research the topic "Air Wells". Fog catchers are also an interesting technology if you happen to live in areas where you get low cloud / fog.

Rex Research is a favorite site, has a lot of those patents that were suppressed by the oligarchs. They're all here. I shared RR for the younger crowd who has the time to build the larger projects.
